Its probably good for McCain that the second placed Democrat in the tight primary race was a woman and not Barney Frank, otherwise his blatant tokenism would have been much harder for his zombotic horde of a base to swallow. Think about it- would rock-ribbed social conservatives ever rallied around a John McCain/Rip Taylor ticket?
Here Republican VP candidate, Governor of Alaska, and former beauty queen Sarah Palin demonstrates her policy experience in the fields of education and foreign affairs:

Every time I see that it hurts my brain a little bit.
While I'm sure that the Republican vice presidential pander-date can render her views more fluidly than poor Miss Teen South Carolina I doubt the content is any more coherent.
You're right. This is what she can tell you about Iraq, in 12/06:
Alaska Business Monthly: We've lost a lot of Alaska's military members to the war in Iraq. How do you feel about sending more troops into battle, as President Bush is suggesting?
Palin: I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq. I heard on the news about the new deployments, and while I support our president, Condoleezza Rice and the administration, I want to know that we have an exit plan in place; I want assurances that we are doing all we can to keep our troops safe. Every life lost is such a tragedy. I am very, very proud of the troops we have in Alaska, those fighting overseas for our freedoms, and the families here who are making so many sacrifices.
Just a bit of perspective here:
If you're going to use the word "token" when refering to Sarah Palin, you may want to look at the Democrats' picks for possible Presidential candidates.
a) A female freshman senator whose previous experience was that of First Lady.
And...
b) Another freshman senator who had never held a real job or even authored any legislation. 130 "present" votes?
Come now, say what you will but don't throw the word "token" around lest you make yourself a hypocrite.
