In the old days, monarchs got to see faces like these on a whim, only having to ask palace guards to apply hot pokers to a subject's rectum:
The Queen was greeted by a man pulling faces as she met the world gurning champion on a visit to Cumbria (I do apologise if there is an ad- the BBC has gone a bit downmarket).
Isn't the idea of maintaining national dignity a big part of the argument for keeping the Royals around?
