Wanted: Men Who Like Worshiping a Half Naked Man and Wearing Rainbow Stoles

A gay priest yesterday

How mad is it that seven years into the 21st century churches presume to dictate policy for a mostly secular country?

Churches unite over adoption row
The Church of England has backed the Catholic Church in its bid to be exempt from laws on adoption by gay couples. Catholic leaders in England and Wales say its teachings prevent its agencies placing children with homosexuals and they will close if bound by the rules....

I see. So your religious faith, a concious choice you made, trumps the rights of people whose biological destny is as immutable as skin colour to provide good homes for abandoned and orphaned children? And your fabled compassion enters into the equation where?

And there I was thinking the CofE was getting more liberal. Look like it's either the Quakers or the lesbian vicar of K*mberl** for Henry's spiritual guidance.

Oh, oh, oh--in stitches at the illustration. (As usual!)

Signed,
She from that nearby "gay bishop" diocese

Margaret; I have noticed that the arrival of Gene in your diocese has meant that Rowan Beardie Weirdie and his gang have become much more butch on social issues. It seems power bases and holding together fractuous communions are more important that the "rights of concience" Williams talks of.

It is all very unbecoming for the Church of the Permanently Agnostic to act in this way. What happened to the CofE I was bored to tears with in primary school? Whither one quick verse of "All Things Bright and Beautiful", a tweedy old dear mashing the organ keys like an army cook tenderizing steak, a bucket at the back for change for Cambodian orphans, and a vicar with a giant adam's apple that bobs nervously above his dog collar while he says "Awfully sorry but we have reached the bit in the service where I have to make the teeniest mention of G.O.D."?

They should put down the tamborine and the brightly coloured hats and get back to what they do best: opening village fetes and writing letters to the local paper about not grubbing up hedgerows.

"breakin' the law, breakin' the law ..."

or, as viewed through the conservative parishoners' lens:

"You think I'll let it go you're mad
You've got another thing comin'!"
