When I was Seventeen, It Was A Very Good Year...

In response to the comments on the previous post, I'd like to present the following mitigating evidence:

Weasel on his last evening of being 17, waiting for the summer solstice sunrise onboard Amabelle, dockside in the village of Thurne.

A three-months 18 Mondale, captain of the
Amabelle getting ready to go ashore for a bifter.

Different night, roughly the same epoch. The boys protest rampant housing development in rural Norfolk by engaging in direct action. Amazingly, not the same night as the N****n Fl*****r incident described below.

See? We were nice, smiling teenagers. The super-observant will note that both Mondale and I have had roughly the same hairstyles since high school.

Oh, I have better ones....

Yeah, right! Mondale and I have a mutually assured destruction pact concerning youthful indiscretions. No really damaging stuff will ever be allowed to leak from either household.

That's true, Weasel and Mondale have peacefully coexisted for the last 17 years in a state of combined friendship and mutual fear. It certainly works for me. I really really miss that boat, I was gutted when my folks had to sell it to put me through college!
Regarding the earlier comment by Listo, I'm not sure we would have got along too well. We would have been a bit too drunk and too into Billy Bragg and getting a bit too drunk and singing Red Hot Chilli Peppers hits and getting a bit too drunk and losing stuff. Then again his organisational skills may well have come in useful in that three sided field.

Thinking even further, I have tried to take friends from 'other worlds' into that strange place that is the Norfolk sailing/beach life. Not very many return unscathed. The mud is different, the bizarre sense of direction is different, the 75% reduction in personal hygiene is different, the days without real food is different. Oh roll on summer!

You forgot the Waterboys and Van Morrison- perfect for saying screw it, dropping the sail, and running on engine dwon to Potter for chips.

Oh my God. I don't even know what to say. You two are adorable! Adorable and apparently evil.
