History Friday: Hammer of the Steppes

 Posted by Hello

All hail the heroic liberators from the east and from the west! Up yours, Nazis! Uncle Joe, FDR, and Winnie will shove that master race nastiness right up your jacksie!

April 21st, 1945: Red Army enters outskirts of Berlin

Wait a minute: that was yesterday. Shit. Oh well, I suppose we'll have to go with the 5th anniversary of this:

April 22nd, 2000: Swat team grabs tug-of-love Cuban boy. A real human tragedy, but a beautiful Ry Cooder produced soundtrack. Apparently they tried the same thing with Mondale but Mrs. Mondale locked the closet door, thus thwarting the Feds.

I take tremendous pride in the fact that after nine years of trying I managed to get the phrase "Stakhanovite work ethic" into an official piece of educational documentation. Teachers will refer to this document for years to come.

"april 23 is the 50th anniversary of Chelsea's first title."
Typical Chelsea, swanning about playing football when the rest of the red-blooded world was off twisting the knife in the twitching corpse of Nazi power.
Nice display of the "Stakhanovite work ethic" by Dean Ashton for Norwich on Saturday; one goal per player shall henceforth be the benchmark. Southampton, WBA: Ils ne passerons pas.

Weasel, History might be your thing but it seems that math is not. By 1955 most of the nazis you refer to were either staggering westward from years in Soviet gulags or sunning it down in Argentina. By the time Chelsae won the league the war had been over for almost 10 years.

Bugger. I had been drinking, and it was raining. While Spurs players may have been moonlighting for Mossad in South America, everyone else was farting about, never having it so good and all that.

OK, Mockneymotormouth, take your free shot.

I had no idea Maurice Norman worked for Mossad. It does explain a thing or two.

Where do you think they found Villa and Ardilies?
